What is Ripley syndrome?

Ripley syndrome refers to an antisocial personality disorder that denies one's reality, believes that the fictional world he created is true, and repeatedly repeats false actions and words in that fictional world. The desire for achievement arises when a person who is outstanding but incompetent faces a social structural problem in which he or she cannot achieve what he or she wants in reality. The medical community calls the official diagnosis of Ripley syndrome a daydream hoax.

It is a big problem to believe in the truth and continue as you are told when your earnest wish does not come true, when you have childhood affection deficiencies, when reality and ideals collide.

Symptoms of Ripley syndrome

Ripley syndrome psychological problems can cause serious emotional ups and downs. They say they feel calm in the morning, but they feel suicidal at night. They fall into temptation with repeated lies and deceive others for their own benefit or pleasure. As a result, there is a problem that can cause financial and psychological damage to others. It is known that they like to be the center of attention and are very interested in the way others evaluate themselves.

They are also said to have unreasonably high ideals and a desire for self-promotion. It's very habitual and uses repeated lies only for a few hours to completely solve them. As it becomes difficult to distinguish between falsehood and delusion, it develops into a delusional disorder.

The difference between Ripley syndrome and falsehood

In the medical world of Ripley's syndrome, it's called daydreaming, which is different from the usual phantasmagia we know. The main difference is that while the mythomaniac is lying to others and recognizes that it is a lie, the Ripley syndrome denies the real world itself, so he does not recognize that what he is saying is a lie. So someone who goes through Ripley syndrome doesn't feel guilty about lying.
